The 2017 Midwest Harmony Region 3 Competition in Springfield IL was an exciting event for the Yahara River Chorus. It’s always fun and inspiring to see our fellow Region 3 choruses and quartets perform. Part of the reason we take the stage is to test ourselves and see how we compare to previous years. But just as important is the idea of the performance as a way giving back to everyone in the organization who has helped us along our path to be better singers and performers. This is to show how far we’ve come because of your contributions - 'Thank You'.
Yahara was represented in 3 quartets this year and all did extremely well. First timers The Humdingers took 5th place overall; Charisma! placed 3rd - their highest ranking ever, and By Request placed 2nd with a performance that drew a standing ovation. In addition, as the outgoing Region 3 quartet champions, By Request was formally welcomed into The Winners' Circle, a chorus consisting of all the Regional and International champion quartet members from Midwest Harmony Region 3.
The YRC chorus took the stage with confidence and enthusiasm. We worked hard this past year on expression, dynamics and face and our efforts showed in the judges’ comments and a 5th place ranking overall.
